Everyone knows that Get It Loud In Libraries programmes the best up-and-coming artists in libraries across the North West of England... and now in the Midlands... but what goes on behind the scenes?
Well, we also offer some great opportunities for young folk to get involved in running gigs, digital media making, and much more. Loreena started volunteering with us way back in 2009, here's what she had to say about her experience:
"I joined the team by volunteering to make posters. I wanted to develop my knowledge in graphic design, design techniques and my way around some software programs. I want to thank GILIL for giving me the opportunity to develop my skills which in return helped me to get a full-time paid work within the industry."
And that's not all, a team of young digital producers caught up with Fiona McIntyre from Lancashire Libraries to find out what the gigs mean to the libraries who are involved. Here's what she had to say, straight from the librarian's mouth!
Our team caught up with her at Lady Leshurr's gig at Lancaster Central Library as part of BBC Music Day. The team who supported the day also had some great feedback about their experiences. Mari helped out with the sound tech-ing at the gig and she said "learned how everything worked" and "had fun in a good atmopshere". Ryan, who helped out with the media side of the gig coverage, said "I learned how to shoot different types of photos and videos, and how to use different lenses". Some of the photos taken at the gig even made it onto the BBC's website... now that's impressive!
Sound great, right? Well if your a young person interested in getting involved behind-the-scenes with our gigs, then get in touch. We've got opportunities in Liverpool, Kendal, Coventry, Barrow and many more places!
