Friday night seemed to be back to its busy busy usual. I fought my way through the bright lights, crowds of people, lines of cars to arrive at Blackpool Central Library to find out what happens when a band regularly referred to as ‘post-punk’ comes to a town that’s hosts the annual Rebellion Punk Festival and a place where punk seems to have never left. Self Esteem brought a celebratory show to Liverpool’s Central Library, Getintothis’ Chris Wardle was completely sold. There is a definite atmosphere change when hosting a gig in a library. People are unsure whether they can chat or whether this will result in a telling off. With the arrival of Get It Loud In Libraries and PHOEBE GREEN, a place so used to silence is transformed for a few hours, as music is poured into the grand surroundings of Liverpool Central Library. One is, apparently, that their fans are 'just a bunch of librarians'... If you've not been to a Get it Loud in Libraries gig yet, where have you been? Cate le Bon appeared from behind the Science Fiction and Fantasy section at Kendal Library.... but her magical music is probably best placed somewhere between non-fiction and mountaineering. SBTRKT’s gig on Monday at Lancaster library was nothing short of astounding, and I mean that in the most sincere sense possible. UP and coming grunge band Yuck performed an amazing set at Lancaster's Get it Loud. Hollywood actress-turned-rocker Juliette Lewis played a gig in a library last night (July 13).
